Egmont statues

It is clear that in Zottegem Egmont is a celebrated figure. Lamoral, count of Egmont has not one but two statues in his favourite town. The statues were designed by sculptor Jan-Robert Calloigne in 1820. A bronze statue was placed on the market square in 1968, replacing the 1872 wrought-iron one that was placed next to Egmont’s castle amid the greenery of Egmont’s park.
