In the footsteps of Caesar and Jan de Lichte

The link between Julius Caesar and Jan de Lichte does not seem obvious at first glance. One was a local bushwacker, the other a world-famous politician. However, both have an obvious link to Velzeke. Velzeke was once an important part of the Roman heirloom network and it was the home base of Jan de Lichte. This walk combines the story of the two illustrious figures in one tour.

Practical

The starting point is at Paddestraat 28, 9620 Velzeke, at walking node 92. Be sure to drop in at the Archeocentre, located in the same street.

 The walk is loop-shaped with the following consecutive walking nodes: 92 - 88 - 81 - 66 - 67 - 68 - 79 - 84 - 85 - 90 - 91 - 92. You can shorten the walk at node 81 by choosing the following nodes from there: 82 and 83, which then take you smoothly to node 84, from where you can continue your walk towards the Archeocentre.
