Art deco & art nouveau

From the beginning of the 20th century onwards Zottegem was also in thrall to the decorative lines of Art nouveau and the simpler forms of Art déco. Many façades still bear testimony to those two artistic periods with their floral motifs, colourful tiles and decorative lines. Even Little Red Riding Hood has donned an Art deco costume in Zottegem! Around the city centre different villas can still be seen that were inspired by the Art deco movement, such as Villa Cousy, Villa Cantaert and the villa at Bruggenhoek 44.
