Parking policy: who best parks where?
The parking policy meets the parking needs of residents, commuters, visitors and shoppers alike, and reduces search traffic in the centre.
- Shoppers and visitors best choose the Oud College underground car park when visiting the shops for an extended period. This is the cheapest choice. For short visits, the Shop & Go car parks are the best choice.
- Commuters have two options. On the one hand, they can use the free commuter car park on Deinsbekestraat. Part of the OCMW car park in Deinsbekestraat became free, providing extra spaces for commuters. On the other hand, they can use the paying SNCB car park. Commuters can use the paying SNCB car park with entrance on Bevegemkouter.
- Residents will find parking spaces in their own streets more easily under the new parking plan. Two resident cards can be purchased within a blue or paid parking zone.
Parking plan

Retribution
If you do not have a valid parking ticket in a blue or pay-parking zone, you opt for the fee of EUR 20.00. A parking ticket is valid in the paying zones for four consecutive hours in the morning or afternoon, and for eight consecutive hours in the blue zone.
Free short-term parking (15 min.)
You can obtain a ticket entitling you to 15 minutes of free parking on any street with paid parking. Follow the instructions on the parking meter to obtain this. You are entitled to 15 minutes of free parking per part of the day. The free 15 minutes are not automatically added to the paid parking time, you need a separate ticket for this.
Shop & Go
There are Shop & Go parking spaces at various locations in the city centre: 5 spaces above Heldenlaan, 2 spaces in Stationsstraat and 3 spaces at Zavel. At these Shop & Go spaces, you can park for free for 30 minutes, from Monday to Saturday, between 9am and 6pm. After 6pm and on Sundays and public holidays, you can park there for an unlimited time for free. A parking disc, parking ticket or residents' card are not needed as sensors register the hour of arrival. If the parking time is exceeded, a parking attendant will come on site and a parking fee of EUR 20.00 will be charged.
Old College underground car park
The entrance to the underground car park with 100 public parking spaces is located in Neerhofstraat. From the underground car park, you reach Heldenlaan via a pedestrian passageway. Parking in the underground car park is cheaper than above-ground. You pay EUR 0.70 per hour. The maximum rate is EUR 4.00 per day. The entry height is 2.10 metres.

Resident card
You can purchase a virtual resident card if you are domiciled within the blue or paid parking zone. Two resident cards can be issued per domicile address. The resident card is always valid for 1 year. A first card costs EUR 34.50, a second one costs EUR 70.00. The card can be requested via the Streeteo website. Since 16 January 2023, resident cards are virtual and therefore no longer need to be placed on the windscreen.
Healthcare provider card
This parking card entitles caregivers to park in the paid and blue zone. It is used in combination with a valid European parking disc. The healthcare provider card is valid for two years and is free of charge. Care providers include general practitioners, physiotherapists and home nurses. The card can be applied for via the Streeteo website.
Parking for the disabled
People with a parking card for people with disabilities can park free of charge in the paid parking zone and the blue zone on the territory of Zottegem. There are also reserved parking spaces in various places for people with a parking card for the disabled.
